一 for MANAGER
Don’t
run away
from
the issues
When you become a leader or manager who organizes an engineer team, your work changes dramatically. When you were developing as an engineer, your responsibility was only the program you made. As a team leader, you are responsible for the team and the team’s achievements.
When you get into big trouble, the essence of human beings appears. It is a daily event that problems often occur in system development. Each team member has different skills. The personality is also different. If you have 100 clients, each one is different. Above all, the project is different for each one. It is natural that there are issues. The design document has not been completed, there are a discrepancy in the specifications with the client, the specifications have been added, the performance is poor, there are many bugs, and the
delivery date has been advanced. It is a daily occurrence.
What would you do in such a case?
“I’m a manager, so it’s my job to tell.”
Do you just tell the scene about the complaint or what were said?
or
“Insufficient programmer skills” “The specifications are bad” “Because delivery time is short !!”
Do you take responsibility for others?
Team member mistakes are your responsibility as a leader. People make mistakes.
That is unavoidable. It is your job as a leader to think about and put into practice how the entire team can help each other and produce results as a team.
Clients say unreasonable requests. They can’t agree with your suggestions you tell them just your own opinions. It is your role as a leader and manager to communicate from the client’s point of view. Their attitude don’t change because your explanation is a self-defense and you aren’t trusted by them.
Don’t make excuses and don’t run away from the issues. Such leaders and managers make IVC stronger.
